The Power in the Pause: Trusting the Space Between Elevate Workshop Overview
Better late than never, right?
Elevate Summit was just about a month ago. Many of you asked if the workshops would be recorded and available to those who couldn’t attend. Unfortunately, it was an additional financial investment that I wasn’t able to commit to this year. Also, my workshop was a little unique compare to some of the others. I was there as Kayla Marlene-Scudera Wight… just me. Now, as I am writing this, I just had to delete what I was about to say next, and that was “no business to promote or brand to build”. I quickly delete that statement because I AM my brand and I AM my business. It was important for me to be authentic and speak from the heart. No powerpoint. No sheets to follow along with. Just journals, story-time, and some champagne!
I had about 13 people attend my workshop. It’s a great number! And the audience was perfect. I began with having each attendee scan a barcode which took them to the survey. I did have others I met the night prior scan and take the survey also. I had 20 individuals take my survey. The questions and responses were as follows:
Have you ever been apart of a work lay-off/workforce reduction? (YES 15% / NO 85%)
Have you ever felt like you were stuck in a job? (YES 95% / NO 1%)
Are you a working parent? (YES 65% / NO 35%)
Have you ever sought out a therapist/counselor? (YES 95% / NO 1%)
Do you believe in the power of gratitude? (YES 100%)
We went through each question and results and I shared a piece of my story that correlated with each one. If you have read the blog up until this point - you are well informed on my workshop! I essentially summarized some key highlights centered around my career and how through this layoff and pause I was able to accomplish some pretty amazing things! Reframing your mindset, finding the positives, expressing gratitude, and surrounding yourself with the right people played important parts in our discussion.
Additionally, I had the group pause for some open sharing and journaling activities…all while sharing some champagne of course!
Now, I am in my back-to-work-full-time Era. Its another change; one that I feel I am adjusting well do but also still very much in my feels.
I guess you will need to come back next week to read all about it!
See you next Tuesday : ) Love yous guys! xoxo
